What are Keywords?

Keyword or keyword phrases are the most essential part of the websites as they are the basis for the search engine and help users to understand the products and services offered by the website.
Keywords are generally the combination of 2-3 words, expects the targeted prospects likely to search for. The Keywords should be relevant to the webpage content and correct choice of keywords is very important to optimize a website.
Generally Keyword phrases are better than single keywords. E.g. "Live chat software" is much better than "software" or "Live chat", thus Keywords should always be meaningful which are likely to search by the customer.

Why is the wording of the URLs important for SEO?

SEO friendly URL is important because:

• It can tell a human visitor the type of content in the page

• It helps in your site ranking for the targeted keywords

One of the areas that gets very little attention from webmasters with regard to SEO is the URL structure. Search engines can be blocked from crawling your website completely by using poor URL structures.

These days many websites use content management systems for easy management of websites. Through these content management systems, we can create new web pages and when we create new pages through these content management systems, the URL of the page too is generated automatically and they will often be with special characters such as "&", "?", "=", "%", numbers, etc. When there are too many such parameters search engine spiders will not be able to crawl your pages successfully. Websites that are database driven too have such problems. This can undermine all the other SEO efforts that you have taken for your website.

Besides blocking the search engine spiders, URLs with too many parameters are difficult to remember. When a human visitor wants to visit one of your products pages, it would be easier to remember an URL that has the product name rather than dynamic URLs with too many special characters. One of the best places to introduce your keywords is your URL and you must make sure that you select the appropriate keyword for each page and come up with descriptive URLs.

What is a URL?

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, which means it is a uniform (same throughout the world) way to locate a resource (file or document) on the Internet. The URL specifies the address of a file and every file on the Internet has a unique address. Web software, such as your browser, use the URL to retrieve a file from the computer on which it resides.

The actual URL is a set of four numbers separated by periods. An example of this would be but as these are difficult for humans to use, addresses are represented in alphanumeric form that is more descriptive and easy to remember. Thus, the URL of this site which is URL can also be written as www.webdialogue.eu

The Internet Domain Name System translates the alphanumerical address to numeric.

How the typical URL is built:

• Format of a URL: Protocol://site address/path/filename

• For example, the URL of this site is: http://www.webdialogue.eu

• and a typical page on this site would be: http://www.webdialogue.eu/aboutus.html

The above URL consist of:

• Protocol: http

• Host computer name: www

• Domain name: webdialogue

• Domain type: eu

• Path: /aboutus

• File name .html
